The European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2025 will take place from 27 April–2 May 2025, at the Austria Center Vienna (ACV) in Vienna, Austria, with online participation options available. Open to geoscientists from all nations, the Assembly aims to bring together experts across Earth, planetary, and space sciences, providing a dynamic platform for presenting research and fostering collaboration.
We are delighted to invite you to submit an abstract to the session: Geological Mapping and Modelling
This session aligns with the work of the EuroGeoSurveys Geological Mapping and Modelling Group (EGSGMMEG) and focuses on the pivotal role of geological mapping and modelling in advancing geosciences. Modern approaches to mapping and modelling produce digital maps, GIS data layers, and multidimensional models (2D, 3D, even 4D), which are vital tools for applications like: Identifying sites for geothermal energy, Assessing geological risks, Groundwater protection, Coastal protection, Mineral exploration, and more.
Topics of Interest: We welcome contributions from scientists working on:
- Geological field mapping,
- 2D, 3D, and 4D geological models,
- Cross-boundary mapping and harmonization,
- Building geological information systems,
- Data analysis, portrayal, and visualization,
- Education and training in geological mapping and modelling.
This session encourages submissions from researchers at all career stages, particularly early career scientists. Whether you wish to present an oral talk or a poster, your insights will contribute to advancing this vital field.
